Cyril was born here in Silver City, and grew up in Thoreau, NM. He and his husband Scott Plate moved back home to his birthplace in 2018. He is a co-founder of Native Heartseed LLC, a broker with Hacienda Realty, and spent most of his life teaching and coaching In New Mexico, Texas, Idaho, Oregon, and Ohio. He worked on large-scale Pride Festivals in Portland and Cleveland and is excited to return home to help reinvigorate the Silver City Pride Fest.

Scott is the co-founder of Native Heartseed LLC, based in Silver City. He is a certified coach, expressive therapist, end-of-life Doula, and published writer who has also enjoyed a long and award-winning career in the performing arts as an actor, director, and educator. His students and clients work at the highest levels of the entertainment industry, and as counselors, clinicians, educators, and clergy.

Ted Tufares (treasurer) is a native New Mexican with a lot of sweat equity in Grant County. He’s the main reason the Silver City Pride Festival happened in the first place. From New Mexico to Alaska and back, Ted has worked construction, on pipelines, and as a counselor in a juvenile correction facility. He now owns and operates the SWAG Thrift and Book Stores here in Silver City. When a job needs doing, Ted is usually the one who steps up. LGBTQ Grant County is grateful he’s still on board.

Victoria Reece is a vibrant LGBTQ advocate and proud member of the Grant County Board, radiating warmth and passion in her roles as daughter, sister, aunt, mother, great aunt, and grandmother. As a joyful and openly gay individual, she champions equality and community spirit in Silver City. Victoria’s zest for life is infectious, reflected in her love for dancing, music, and basking in the sunshine. Recently celebrated as one of Silver City’s esteemed volunteers, she continues to spread joy and foster inclusivity with her unwavering dedication and infectious enthusiasm for fun and connection.

Natalee “NJ” Drissell, a dynamic force on the LGBTQ Grant County Board, balances her dedication to advocacy with her pursuit of art as a college student at WNMU. Majoring in Art, she channels her creativity into both her academic pursuits and her leadership role within the community. Known for her sharp intellect and natural leadership, NJ fearlessly speaks her mind, sharing innovative ideas and fostering dialogue on the board. Her passion for progress and inclusivity shines through, making her a valuable asset in the fight for equality. NJ embodies the power of intellect, creativity, and advocacy in shaping a brighter future.

Pat Sierra, a cherished LGBTQ Board Member, boasts deep roots in Silver City and Grant County, having grown up immersed in the community fabric. Known as the go-to person for all things Silver City, Pat’s extensive involvement with the local church and civic groups underscores his unwavering dedication to community service. With a heart as vast as his knowledge of the area, Pat epitomizes reliability and compassion. Whether through his tireless advocacy on the LGBTQ Board or his steadfast support for local initiatives, he embodies the spirit of Silver City, a beacon of guidance and strength for all who seek it.

Jessica Moore, a vibrant addition to Silver City, is a passionate LGBTQ advocate serving on the Grant County Board. A recent transplant, she sought community and belonging, discovering both in Silver City’s welcoming embrace. With a background as a drummer in a groundbreaking rock band spotlighting four trans women, Jessica brings creativity and resilience to her advocacy. Embracing her new home, she delves into volunteer work, weaving connections and fostering inclusivity. Jessica’s journey epitomizes the power of unity and the transformative impact of finding one’s place in a supportive community.
