About LGBTQ+ Grant County

LGBTQ+ Grant County is a not-for-profit organization serving the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities and their allies in Southwestern New Mexico’s Grant County.

Mission

  1. Build the capacity of our organization at every level so that we may have all the resources – people, information and funding – we need to move forward in our work with the greatest possible effect.
  2. Create a world where our young people may grow up and be educated free from the fear of violence, bullying and other forms of discrimination, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, or that of any member of their families.
  3. Make our vision and our message accessible to the broadest range of ethnic and cultural communities, ending the isolation of families with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender family members within those communities.
  4. Work toward full inclusion of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons within their chosen communities of faith.
  5. Create a society in which all LGBTQ+ persons may openly and safely pursue their chosen career path of their choice and may be valued and encouraged to grow to their full potential in the workplace.
  6. Create a society in which all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons may enjoy, in every aspect of their lives, full civil and legal equality, and may participate fully in all rights, privileges and obligations citizenship in this country offers.

Past

Formerly a subsidiary of the not-for-profit group SWANS (Southwest Activities Network Society), LGBTQ+ Grant County is in the process of creating its own 501(c)(3) that will operate independently, strengthening our ability to raise funds in support of our constituencies.
